Week 55

Well I am into week 55 and down another .4 to 158.6! In another .2 I will be at my lowest weight again, so I will be happy to see that. While I dont think of the last month as a waste, because i have had such fun, I also know I could have made some good progress towards getting to 150 and I basically havent gone anywhere. While I certainly have put forth effort, I havent given it my ALL in regards to exercise and some weekends I havent been eating the best. So after a weekend of healthy eating and getting back on track with exercise, I feel great and feel that I am more focused again. I have a wedding to go to in October, so it would be nice if I could lose these next 8 pounds before then, but at the same time, Im happy to let my body do its thing and get there when it gets there.

I read an interesting article this weekend in regards to Autoimmune diseases and how they are on the rise in young women. Diseases such as M.S., Crohns, Type 1 Diabetes, and Lupus have grown steadily over the past 40 years and women in their 20's are developing these diseases. What was interesting to me is that a lot of this is attributed to processed food. Never made me so glad in my life that I have given up a lot of that stuff! Basically, your body can only take so many toxins, and after it all builds up and you are exposed to 1 more toxin, your body fights itself and manifests in a type of autoimmune disease. Sure its not just processed food (enviromental factors, stress, etc. all play a part too), but Im glad that I have really taken a step towards not just losing weight, but towards eating a natural and healthy way. The less I expose myself to things that are processed, the better and Im glad I could cut a lot of that out. Besides just getting over being addicted to the stuff (sugars, corn starch, corn fructose), women especially can obviously really benefit from eating more whole foods. Just another reason to become healthy and put those chips back on the shelf!

You really are doing just fine! Wonderful example of living life, enjoying your days, and not re-gaining the weight. You still lost! Congrats. You look great.

Great attitude, you are a winner and a champion in so many ways :-)

I was reading about high-fructose corn syrup a long time ago, and I remember thinking that it must be just about the worst thing that you can let enter your mouth! But it seems like there's so much vested interest in its production and distribution, that nobody talks about banning it or at least informing the wider public about it, in the way that, for example, the campaign against trans fats has worked. It's really sad. I do believe that it's one thing to gain weight from eating too much real food, and quite another to gain weight from eating processed, low-nutritional-value, high-sugar crap. Both attitudes will make you fat, but the latter will probably make you really sick as well.

Great job on your weight loss!
Last month is last month and you are still moving in the right direction.
150 is right around the corner...

Your progress is terrific! So close to lowest!

I agree that if we can eat healthfully, we can make a difference. we can't fix the air ourselves. We usually (I can't) afford to build "green" clean homes. But we can use cleaner greener products. We can do our part to take dangerous stuff out of our bodies' way. Not 100%, but I believe it all helps, and what we eat is crucial.

I'm glad I'm making those changes, too.

Your post made me think of another blog (http://dadivastreet.wordpress.com/) because she talks about weekends and how they mess with weight loss.

It sounds like you've got the right attitude!
