Healthy You Challenge Week 7

Seventh week of the Challenge...very exciting! Its also very crazy to think this is my 28th week doing the LAWL plan. It seems like a lot of time, but at the same time, its not really that long.

I am down a pound from the last weigh in and that is fabulous.

So looking back over the past week, I did some things wrong and some things right.

Wrong: I had a wine, cheese and cracker, and salami - fest on Friday night. I had a really fun time and its kind of what I needed after weeks of being stressed out, but I was disapointed in myself when I weighed in yesterday.

Right: I exercised again this week! Mostly it was due to the fact that I was terrified my cheese-fest would cause me to be up on the scale. It did, but I know it could have been worse if I had not exercised. This time I did the toning section of the Biggest Loser DVD and I really enjoyed it!

Right: In the past, I would have a binge and then figure, ok Im going to be up on the scale so I might as well go to town until weigh in. I would have used it as an excuse to eat poorly on Saturday and Sunday. But I did not do that at all. I also had absolutely no desire to either. My stomach was sticking out, I felt icky, it was not a pleasant experience for my body and it was reminding me of why I dont eat like that anymore.

Right: While I was disapointed in my weigh in yesterday, at the same time, I am not really hung up about it. In the past, I would be so upset (and part of why I would continue to binge) that I messed up. I used to feel I had to be perfect. As much as I want to believe I am, I am not. We all make mistakes. Frankly, I am tired of being so hard on myself. I think I have done a lot right, and I am pretty proud of myself for not agonzing over the choices I made. I acknowledged I messed up, but instead I did something about it. I ate healthy and exercised.

Right: I went to Old Navy on Saturday and bought 2 pairs of jeans in size 14! I am now comfortably fitting in them (the one pair I had in size 14 was a little snug).

Right: I resisted giant delicious muffins at work (that were to my dismay still in the office this morning)!

1 lb down is great work.

Every week we're going to do some things wrong and some things right ... the key is doing more right than wrong, and making the wrongs less wrong than before. It sounds like that's what you're doing. Good for you.

You're doing great! How fun to get new jeans in a smaller size! It's that all-or-nothing thinking that turns a binge into an all-you-can-eat life so I'm glad you stopped it in it's tracks.

Sounds like you are not letting things get you off track once you "slip" up, that is good! Have a great Wednesday! ; )

Excellent work, Heather. I know what you mean about how easy it would have been to continue with the cheese-fest on Saturday and Sunday. Great that you stopped and awesome that you recognize the good choices you made through the week.

Keep up the great work!

Hey, I came across your blog and we have a lot in common! There are lots of times when I slip up once and "go to town" because I figure I should just get it out of my system all at once....it's great that you're recognizing that you do that - once I did, it made things easier, I think.

You have made such great progress, I'm really impressed! We have pretty similar weight ranges, and you're really inspiring!

1 pound is great. Congrats on that and doing so many things right. As long as the good outweighs the bad you are doing well.
