Shopping trip

Ahhhh nothing like a 1.6 loss to put you in a much better place! I am happy to be down to 156.8 which is a good sign things are back to normal. Eating healthy and working out these past few days has been great. Stress at work has simmered down for the week, and Ive noticed Ive felt a lot calmer and less tired, so its something to say for how much stress takes a toll on your body.

Im glad to see the weight loss because I didnt have the best shopping trip this afternoon. Because its so nice out and I had pulled out some of my summer clothes, I was disapointed to note that the ones I had hoped to fit in better this year dont look much different and then there are some that are too big. This leaves me with just a few things to wear. I thought I would go to the store after work and get some capris, etc. Well it was a frustrating trip. Apparently I am in between sizes so if I go a size up, the waist is too big. If I go a size down, the hips and thighs are skin tight. I was also unhappy that I was in a size 14 rather than a comfortable 12 which I have been wearing. I realize sizes change from store to store and style to style, but no one likes to go up sizes, especially when they have maintained a healthy weight and are losing some inches in various places. Apparently those inches are not enough in the hips and thighs. Its just disapointing. Shirts are the same way - I was swimming in larges, but some mediums were too tight. Others were fine which is good that I have basically gone down a size in tops, but what I really want is to be going down with my lower half. I also hardly found anything, so apparently I will be going naked this summer! JK- but I seriously will be wearing the same 5 shirts and 2 pairs of capris if this keeps up.

I guess when you lose weight, you really think that you will be able to go into any store and find clothes that fit and feel great. I dont always feel that way and it sucks sometimes. Having experiences like this makes me feel down on myself, which i dont like to feel either since I have worked hard to get this body and I want to feel good in what I wear.

You're right, shopping for clothes is no easier in smaller sizes than larger ones. Finding the right style for your new shape is the key. Once you find it (and you will), it gets much easier because you don't waste time with the stuff that's frustrating.

I've got to pick up a few things myself or there will be two of us naked. :) I have only one pair of capris and a couple of pairs of shorts.

I am much smaller above the waist now than below so I am finding that separates are the way to go. I watched a show recently that said getting your clothes altered was worth it. Sizes REALLY vary from store to store. I find that Walmart sizes tend to be smaller than dept. stores.

Congrats on your loss. Just found your site..it is great. Keep up the great work. I used to love shopping now, I don't care what size you are, it is no fun. www.summerfitness.net

That kind of shopping trip is so frustrating and disheartening. Clothes can be cut so differently for the same size and everyone is shaped differently, but even knowing that doesn't make you feel better when you have an unsuccessful trip. I have also been in between sizes for a long time and it's annoying. Keep persevering though, or maybe go again in a few weeks when your body has changed a little more. Because the feeling you get on a really successful shopping trip makes it worth it!

My bottom half is a size larger than my top half, too. It is so frustrating!

Did you try on any skirts? Maybe pretty, summery skirts that have a little bit of stretch in the fabric would be nice!

Oh, I'm sorry you had a frustrating trip, but I am sure you will find nice clothes that fit well if you keep being on the lookout. I know that my best purchases happened when I wasn't in the market for clothes; I sort of popped into a store and found something that looked great and was on sale. Usually, when I go out looking, it's ten times harder, ha ha :-)
I also know it's hard to do, but try not paying too much attention on sizes, since they can vary a lot from store to store. You know you've lost a lot of weight and inches off your body, and that's really what matters. Whether it's a 12 or a 14, you wouldn't have been able to fit in the same clothes some time ago, and that's amazing!
Enjoy the nice weather, I love spring!!!
