Happily Maintaining

Well I am not sure how I pulled it off, but I just weighed in at 159.8, which means that even after 2 cookouts, I still managed to maintain my weight.

Which is why it is a myth that you cant indulge once in a while in moderation and lose or maintain. I thought for sure that I would have a gain, and rightly so. I ate some things on Friday that were not included in my plan, and same with yesterday. Yesterday they had lasagna as they did something different at this "cookout" since they figured everyone would be tired of grilled food from the weekend. I skipped the appetizers again, and then had a piece of lasagna and some jello. I was hoping for a salad but there wasnt any (which is kind of strange in my opinion), so my dinner wasnt very large. I did indulge in a cookie bar which was delicious. And now that I see that I maintained my weight, Im glad that I did indulge. Working on not feeling that guilt! I also ended up having one alcoholic drink, but it counted as a fruit, so overall I think I did pretty good.

The reality is, life is full of situations where you dont have much control over the food. What you do have control over is what you choose to eat and how much of it. While I am surprised that I didnt show a gain, it does prove that eating in moderation works, and you can enjoy yourself withou worrying that you will see a huge gain. And everyones' bodies work different, but dont sabatoge yourself one day because you think after overeating you will definitely be on up on the scale because I definitely see proof that it doesnt always happen that way! Sure, I probably would have shown a loss if not for the extra food, but Im ok with maintaining. TOM is around the bend too so I didnt expect a loss anyways.

Thanks for all the kind comments on my pics!

Maintaining is a beautiful thing and you seem to be getting the hang of it. I loved your comment about not being able to always control what you are given to eat but you can always control how much you eat of any given food...that is so true!

Hope you'll enjoy the crockpot lasagna if you get around to making it. I'm sure the lower fat cheeses would work well in the recipe to help keep the calories down.

Maintenance is a serious accomplishment. Each week you do it is a victory. Good job!

I've been offline for a few days and have just now had the chance to look at your before and after pics. What a tremendous change!

You must feel as good as you look. I like the hair short too, BTW! Reminds me to go and get mine cut.

Congratulations on the maintenance and keep up the fantastic work :)

I agree with you..I think it's important for us to be able to indulge in things we want now and then-the important thing is to do it in moderation. Glad to see it worked and you maintained this week.
