Losing It

and no..I am not talking about my weight, even though I am down 1.2 since Wed to 172.4, which makes 35 pounds lost.

No I am talking about my job. I am probably going to lose it. Today was probably the worst day I have had in my life thus far. I thought yesterday was bad...oh that was just the opening act for today. Today was a completely different issue.

For starters, I thought it was going to be a good day. I decided to work from home to avoid the snow and felt very relaxed waking up a few hours later and being able to be alone without any distractions. But to cut to the chase, I found out that the survey I am running stopped collecting data yesterday morning. Since then, over 1600 people have tried to access the survey, and none of their responses were being collected.

This is the biggest project that my team has. If we lose this project, there is no need for my team, and probably for me as well. While I am not sure what I did, apparently there is something that I did that caused a chain of events to occur in our system, and that is what made the survey fail to collect data. So I am responsible.

I had to sit in on the call my supervisor had with the client. I thought I was going to throw up. She was so pissed. She said she would not use us again.

Right now I dont care about the weight I lost. I dont even care that I have been working for 12 hour straight now. All I care about is how this is going to affect my job and my place at this company. How can I enjoy myself this weekend? How can I enjoy anything?

Oh Heather, I'm so sorry that you've had such a rough week a work. I hope they find the error wasn't your fault or even if it was, hopefully it can be fixed and smoothed over.

Congratulations on the 35 pounds lost, you are so close to the 160's!!

Just hang in there at work. I hope things turn around for you.

Hi- Maybe it was a technical glitch? Clients come and go. There must have been other things that have happened in the past(not because of you) besides this. They don't just leave b/c of one issue. You did your best and something malfunctioned..did you speak to tech support? I create surveys as part of my job..if I can be of any assistance, I'd be glad to try. Please don't be so down. You did not intentionally mess up the system. Everyone makes mistakes..it really sounds like a technical thing...maybe it hit it's maximum responses. Maybe I don't know what I am talking about..but please don't be hard on yourself. It will blow over. You are strong and smart and just have a really bad week. Try to enjoy the loss and LOW weight! Take care. PS- My boss has told me a few times that I almost lost them a client. Doesn't feel so good. Get some rest. Take a walk in the snow..make snow angels or build a smowman. :) {{hugs}}

Don't stress out! Whatever happens....simply HAPPENS! Do the best you can and deal with the mistakes. Hang in there and don't beat yourself up either, that never helps. ; )

I'm sorry you're having such a bad time Heather. As far as the client and your future with the company goes though, they will look at the bigger picture. If you've done a good job so far and you're a good employee then they will still see you as a valuable asset and overlook one hiccup. If not, then your future is not with the company and although it may not feel that way now it might be for the best in the long run. Things always seem worse at the time, but it will all smooth out.

Don't be so hard on yourself, everything is a learning experience and nothing is the end of the world.

I hope things take a turn for the better soon.

Hugs

I know how terrible work stress can be, as with the thought of not having a job to be stressed out by. I also know that most things seems less stressful when everything calms down.

There is nothing you can do or know until Monday. Use your healthy habits to comfort you. Watch your favorite movie. Get coffee with your best friend. Live your life, comfort yourself, and hope for the best.

And, know that if the best isn't what comes, you'll still be okay.

Oh this is awful! I'm so sorry that this has happened. I hope that it will all work out all right. Just trust that it will! Trust that you will land on your feet!

And well done on the weight loss.

Oh, that sounds very stressful. I work for an HR consulting firm, and we use services like yours for our clients. so I know how serious the problem was, but you know what, computers are computers. And it is easy for a client to jump down a vendor's throat simple because they think they can. I hope you're breathing easier now - and that they have realized that you are valuable! Hopefully this will be impetus for them to work on the glitch, eh?
