Thanksgiving Plan

So I was reading the Tales from the Scales post for today about planning for Thanksgiving, so I thought I would write about my plan.

Typically in the past, Thanksgiving was a day for me where I could just gorge myself with food. I think it mostly started like this in college. I would come home, a starving college kid and eat my heart out to say the least.

That tradition has kept up and this year, I want it to end. I will admit, I am nervous because the smells alone of a Thanksgiving dinner are enough to make anyone quit their diet for one day. But the thing is, I dont want to spend the other days of the week getting the weight off that I just gained. I also know I will probably be eating out a few other days (I am going to be out in PA visiting my family). We usually go to the Cheesecake Factory on the Friday after Thanksgiving to celebrate my brother's birthday and anyone who has been to that restaurant knows its a dieter's nightmare and a fat person's dream. So I will be faced with lots of challenges and temptations and I want to be prepared.

So here is my plan for Thanksgiving:

1 serv of fruit and 1 serv of protein for breakfast
1 serv of dairy (probably yogurt) as a snack before dinner

The Dinner:
turkey (protein)
Mashed potatos (starch)
1/2 corn bread muffin (starch)
1 serv butter (fat)
1 serv gravy (condiment)
jelly (condiment)
2 glasses of wine (2 serv fruit)
2 serv of whatever vegetable there is

I plan on pushing the water big time, chugging it all day. I am also going to take a Carb Ender supplement that I take sometimes when I am eating heavier starches and it blocks some of the absorption of the starch into the blood. If the weather is nice, I will try to go for a walk afterwards, although I did see snow in the forecast.

So hey, that is a LOT of food. I think I can be perfectly content with that. And whatever dessert there is, I will probably have a few small bites.

And there you have it: Thanksgiving meal right on plan. It is possible! I have a plan, Im going to stick to it, and I know I will feel great when I do. I havent worked this hard to blow it all in one day.

Amazing how a plan can make you feel a lot better about the challenges that you are going to face.

sounds like a plan! I am worried about it too, but I am going to try to stick to a reasonable plan also!

I think its great that you've made a plan. I'm cooking the Thanksgiving dinner so I have to cook healthy.

Cheesecake Factory is a diet nightmare!

Hey, I have a favor to ask... I know it's kinda silly, but I am going out of town tonight. So, I am going to write my Look Great in 08 post today, but I won't be around a computer the rest of the week in order to post it to the blog (you know, type my name, paste my URL). Would you mind doing that for me tomorrow? I know that it's not the end of the world if I don't post it, but when I committ to something, I like to follow through! :) Let me know!

And in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to say Thank You for always being positive and supportive. I hope your T-Day festivities go well!
