Now we are moving

I just had another great weighin - down .8 from Monday to 158. Soooooo glad the scale seems to be moving in the right direction. Im not doing anything different than I have been doing, so maybe this is a sign that after 4 months of this, I might be getting somewhere. Im hesitant though to get too excited since I know the scale does play these games so hopefully on Friday I will get another sign that the plateau might be nearing its end.

I was a little ticked off today at work when I told the woman who stocks the kitchen that we were out of the fat free sugar free creamer they usually buy. She said that they were cutting back and not buying that kind of creamer (will buy the normal full-fat, real sugar kind). I asked why they coudlnt cut back on something else, like cheetos. She said that she would ask around but that everyone would rather have cheetos than fat free sugar free creamer. I said, well why cant you buy cheetos OR m& ms? Or cheetos OR cheese nips. Or Cheetos OR chocolate candy mix. As you can see its pretty ridiculous our kitchen currently consists of cheetos, m&ms, wheat thin, cheese nips, chocolate covered raisins, hersheys chocolate candy mix, and pita chips, but they are "cutting back". Cutting back on anything remotely healthy is more like it.

It just makes me angry that because more people want the unhealthy stuff, people like me who want something healthy will have to suffer. Not because what I want is healthy and I choose not to eat the unhealthy stuff, but because the majority of people want that unhealthy stuff and they win out over me. Not fair!

*Edit: the point I was getting at wasnt that I dont have any healthy options (my desk is stocked with healthy things and I bring in my own lunch every day), its that people actually choose unhealthy foods over healthy foods. And my work (and society for that matter), seem to cater to these people, not the people that could actually lower our insurance because we are trying to lose weight and become healthier people.

Here's hoping that scale knows only one direction now! :)

My company provides coffee, sweeteners (real and fake), and all sorts of creamers. They also offer hot cocoa mix, regular and fat-free. Oh, and tea. But that's it. No food at all. I think I prefer it that way.

The place I work doesn't provide anything for free. If we want something, we go to the cafeteria and purchase it.

I have a small refrigerator in my office so I bring what I want. I don't know how your office is set up, but would that be an option for you? You could also keep healthful foods in your desk drawers.

Hey, you're losing again. Congrats.

And just keep a ziplock with your own healthier stuff in your purse or drawer. I always carry Splenda with me, and when I visit family, I take those "on the go" Crystal Light packs and bottles of water to make my own sugar-free beverages (since most family members buy regular soda and stuff).

Maybe you can drop, in your most pleasant tone, every now and then, al ittle "Oh, wouldn't it be nice if we had healthier snacks in the office, in stead of junk food."

You could always also find out if anyone else really liked the sugar-free, fat free creamer, and if you find enough, y'all can chip in and buy it for y our own use.

It can be solved. You will prevail!

Wow. That's a very unhealthy workplace. Ick.

Can you have your own creamer that no one will touch? I know that's not your point though. It's frustrating that they're not allowing any option other than unhealthy!

Good work on the weightloss. :)

I know a lot of people (health conscience too) that won't use sugar free things because they are afraid of the artificial sweeteners and health risks. Not that it is your co-workers though ;) Most work places don't provide ****! These days they are cutting back to nothing!

You have to stand your ground and lead the way!

Congrats on your loss, you must feel great! I will agree with those commenting before me; your workplace seems really unhealthy! But if I were you, I would just not waste any energy on trying to communicate the obvious (healthier kitchen food=>healthier workers => more productive workers) and bring my own creamer instead.

My office is cutting back on the chocolate and keeping the non-dairy creamer. Since I loathe all forms of creamer, and love chocolate, this is good -- I'm not going to be tempted when I go into the kitchen.
I hope your good example inspires people!

You would think they would want to stock it with at least SOME healthy options, sheesh. I agree, cut back the M&M's instead! So unfair.
